Goals not Resolutions

I have to admit sometimes I get a little longwinded. One of my 2021 goals (not a resolution but a goal) is to write shorter posts – starting now, wish me luck.

See where I’m going with that anti-New Year’s resolution sentiment that I slipped in there? I’m setting goals and not resolutions. I’m doing that because achieving goals prepare me to be ready to navigate life’s downs and ups with optimism, a vision for my future, inner strength and, confidence. In other words, I'm building my well-being and you can too.

Bear with me for two quick personal impacts from achieving a goal.

1. What's possible for you and what you're capable of expands. When you achieve a goal, you prove that you are capable of doing more, and specifically something that might have seemed not possible. When you know that you're capable of making possible your impossible (whatever that is for you), you feel more secure about your capabilities. And from that place of security, you build inner-strength that you can rely on.

2. Your sense of optimism increases. What grows out of achieving something is a positive "of course I can" optimism. That’s because you are up-leveling your potential. The process of achieving anything that requires effort includes having to learn and personally grow. And because you know more and have grown more, your potential is more. The result is that you can optimistically see yourself and what’s ahead for you from the positive perspective of your potential and not your past failings.

So, instead of resolutions, set goals for 2021. Not only will you achieve things, but you’ll also build your inner-strength and well-being.

Message me your goals through my “contact me” page if you’d like an accountability partner and someone (me) who can help you get them done!
