Walking and Ease
Take a walk. You'll learn a lot about the ease with which you move through your life every day. Our gait says something. Legs and feet propel us through and to whatever our destination or purpose is. But it is how they carry us, the regular consistent "attitude" of the pace and foot fall, that tells us lots about the emotion that's at the control of the legs and feet.
These days it probably wouldn’t surprise any of us if we don’t see a lot of ease in the way people walk. I see it every day when I’m out and about for my daily aerobic exercise. Besides those like me who are getting their workout in, the tenor of a lot of the walking I see betrays a distinct lack of ease.
Take a look yourself, first at your own normal walking and then at others. What do you observe? Our bodies have a way of saying things we might be unaware of. So, tune into yours if you don’t already. Ease, as reflected in the way we walk, doesn’t come from just a mechanical change like slowing down the pace. It’s much more. It’s the natural outflow of calm, the kind of calm that comes from being in the stillness.
